October 7: Nature Goes...Erm...Wild

Recommendation: Arachnophobia
Another Option: The Birds

Not too long ago, I re-watched Arachnophobia for the first time in ages. And I swear on all that is holy, I screamed more than I have during a horror film in YEARS. If you aren't a fan of spiders - and I am decidedly not - this one is both reeeeeeeeally scary (in a creepy crawly way), and great fun! Jeff Daniels stars as the unfortunate guy who has to battle a highly poisonous spider infestation in his home, and John Goodman plays an exterminator who wages battle with him, so you can imagine the laughs. If you're looking to introduce your kids to horror, this might be a good place to start!

(BTW, the picture accompanying this post is EXACTLY how I looked while trying to find a picture to accompany this post. Spiders = NOAP).

The Birds is, of course, the Alfred Hitchcock movie featuring packs of aggressive birds that descend on a small town and begin attacking people. We're never given a reason as to why it all happens, which makes it all the more frightening.

"Let's Watch..." is a movie watching challenge for the month of October by Overthinking Horror Films. Each day a new theme is posted, with a couple of film suggestions to get you started. So check in daily!
